The policy was updated to reflect two new laws: AB 486 (2021), which requires full-time district police officers and certain public safety dispatchers to serve a probationary period of at least one year before gaining permanent classified status, and SB 874 (2022), which mandates that districts with a merit system allow permanent employees who fail their probationary period after a promotion to return to their previous classification. |
