Board approval is requested for an overnight field trip for one Silver Valley USD student who qualified to compete in the CIF-SS Girls Masters Wrestling Tournament at Sonora High School in La Habra, CA. Due to the long travel distance from Fort Irwin and the necessity of a 7:00 AM weigh-in, an overnight stay is essential to ensure the student is well-rested and prepared for competition.
The student will be accompanied by the coach and another student athlete, who will assist with warm-ups and provide additional support. They will stay at the Best Western hotel for one night, departing on 2/20/25 at 4:30 PM and returning on 2/21/25 at 8:00 PM. Travel through the Cajon Pass presents potential traffic delays, further justifying the overnight stay.
This item is being brought to the board for approval after the fact due to the late notification of the student’s qualification for the tournament.
